Maryland pilot plan lets Frederick juniors skip senior year

Four Frederick High School juniors will enroll as freshmen at Hood College this fall under a Maryland pilot Early Admissions Plan. It faces looming union opposition and questions about long term employment in education. The piece also notes a Baltimore truancy crisis and Harvard’s study on a three-year college model as broader educational reforms.

After Vietnam, Awakening or Decline for America

A NEWSPAPER ENTERPRISE ASSOCIATION commentary argues that the end of U.S. involvement in Vietnam could trigger a national self-discovery era. It questions whether Peace Day Plus One will reveal whether Americans regain balance, pursue urban renewal, poverty reduction, and health care, or cling to alibis. It notes European views on instability and the risk of renewed crises, with reflections on money, policy, and the future of peace and national resolve.
