70-Group Air Force Winner

Washington June 21. Backers of a 70 group Air Force won a victory in words today through a Senate House conference agreement to authorize that top strength for the aerial arm. The actual size will depend on money for planes and men. House and Senate differed on specifics but set a ceiling of not to exceed 70 groups plus needed squadrons and reserve units. The Air Force strength now sits around 48 first line groups, limited by appropriations and orders from the President and Defense Secretary.

Recreation Area in Western Maryland Aimed at Jobs
