Senate hearing urged funding for boat safety programs
Maryland and national boating groups urged the Senate Commerce Committee to continue federal support for recreational boating safety. The measure would extend the 1971 act with about 10 million dollars nationwide for safety programs and 20 million for marina equipment, funded by existing motorboat fuel taxes.

Pryor skin graft postponed in burn crisis
Richard Pryor remains in critical, very ill condition after skin graft surgery was postponed. Dr. Richard Grossman said the burns cover the upper body and pneumonia complicates recovery. Pryor’s prognosis is the bleakest since admission to Sherman Oaks Community Hospital.
