Revolutionary Patriot Richard Potts Highlighted by Kiwanis Talk
Charles McC Mathias Jr describes Revolutionary patriot Richard Potts as a key but overlooked Frederick County figure. Potts, born 1753 in Upper Marlborough, studied law with Samuel Chase, served in the Continental era, held multiple Maryland offices, and influenced notable figures like Taney. Potts left a will detailing his family estate and enslaved people, while portraits in Frederick preserve his memory.
