Military finds it expensive in replacing homosexuals
Congressional investigators say the government spent nearly a half billion dollars from 1980 to 1990 to replace homosexuals discharged from military service. The GAO report notes 16,692 enlisted personnel and 227 officers left over homosexuality, with Navy the most aggressive in discharges. In 1990 the Pentagon spent 27 million recruiting replacements, or 28,226 per enlisted and 120,772 per officer. The study compares 18 nations and eight police departments, finding varied policies and no degradation of mission in police forces from allowing homosexuals to serve.
