Three Democrats File For House Of Delegates
The Democrats today had three persons in the field for House of Delegates after William E. Hauver, Myersville, and Malcolm B Baer, of Frederick, filed certificates with the Board of Election Supervisors and paid filing fees. Hauver, a former Middletown High School coach, was first elected in 1946. Baer, son of Dr and Mrs Baer, is a young Frederick lawyer and World War II veteran. Clifton Wirts and Richard Baumgardner also filed. Wirts is the Democratic incumbent and Baumgardner is a Republican.

Bridge Collapse On Monocacy River Bridge 1936 Disaster
Twenty years ago today June 19 1936 the Washington Frederick Blue Ridge Lines bus carrying fifteen passengers crossed the Monocacy river bridge at Frederick Junction moments after two o clock when the north span collapsed. Richard Morgan of Boonsboro avoided injury as the span fell killing three workers and injuring several others. The wreck killed two more in the river and disrupted traffic for months. A coroner later ruled overloading caused the collapse. A Pennsylvania car narrowly escaped as its front hung over the edge.

Auto Crash Near Frederick Injures Two Baltimoreans
Two Baltimore residents were hurt in early Sunday crashes on Route 40 near Frederick. Clarence Church, 40, suffered body lacerations and was admitted to Frederick Memorial Hospital after a truck driven by Philip E. Priest, 29, left the highway, flipped, and overturned in a field. Trooper James Stonesifer investigated. A second incident Friday saw five people escape injury when a car driven by Philip F. Bennett, 33, struck Beaver Creek bridge on Route 40 A, five miles east of Hagerstown. the car was badly wrecked, Stonesifer reported.

Picnic Truck Tragedy Hits Lonaconing Students
A open bed truck carrying Lonaconing High School students toppled down a 35 foot embankment near US 40 three miles east of Cumberland during a school picnic. One girl, tentatively Jean MacFarland aged about 15, died. Several youths were seriously injured and at least 25 hospitalized. Driver Regis Mills, 26, of Gilmore near Lonaconing, may have failed brakes.

Two Autos Damaged In Collision On East Patrick Street
A Sunday early morning crash on East Patrick street left two cars damaged but the occupants uninjured. Officers identified drivers as Frank Hooper Jr of Frederick Route 1 and James L Jackson of Sjamsville. Jackson’s sedan sustained about a hundred dollars in damage while Hooper’s coupe had roughly twenty five dollars in damage. No charges were listed.

Baltimore Synod Opens This Afternoon On Hood College Campus
The twenty fifth annual Baltimore Synod of the Synodical Presbyterian Church in the U S A opens at four this afternoon on Hood College campus. About 200 to 225 delegates are expected to attend sessions through Friday with a prayer service and consecration in Meyran Hall. Ministers and elders will be enrolled in the chapel and Dr A Brown Caldwell Baltimore Stated Clerk will report on arrangements. A memorial service for deceased ministers and elders is scheduled. After the Taylor service the conference recesses until Tuesday.
