Ocean City starts recycling program for aluminum and plastic
Gov. Schaefer launches a city wide effort to test tourist friendly recycling with 150 aluminum barrels and 300 business collection bins along the boardwalk. Plastic collected from Third, 66th and 100th streets will feed a county center and a Baltimore County plastics firm for eventual use by Proctor & Gamble. City officials stress environmental goals over profit while budgeting about 3 600 for the initia tion.
