Senator's Help Fails To Allay Woman's Fear
A Maryland senator pledges to ask the attorney general to review the case of 61 year old Ma trona Gritzuk Karpuk facing deportation to Russia. She fears separation from her husband and family after 32 years in Baltimore as she awaits a possible congressional bill to allow her stay. Also in Tennessee two Negro physicians, Dr Spotwood and Dr Lewis, are admitted to the State Medical Association through the Giles County Society marking the first Black members in the white-dominated body. Both are Meharry graduates. Spotwood has practiced in Giles County 12 years. Lewis has practiced there since graduation.
