Mayoral Plans Set Off by Possible State Campaign
Ron Young weighs a run for lieutenant governor leaving City Hall with a lean staff and a potential acting mayor. Alderman Claude DeLauter would assume duties if Young campaigns full time, while Young’s family situation and wife Carol’s job add pressure to stay local. Despite rumors and some statewide interest, Young denies county ambitions in 1978, though a statewide bid with Orlinsky could occur later.
