City Moves to Buy Hargett and Bantz Properties for Parking
At the annual and regular meeting Mayor Lloyd C. Culler proposed purchasing the Hargett and Bantz properties for not more than 30000 each to create central parking and to authorize a new concrete bridge on West Patrick street to replace a dangerous, collapsed structure. The Board instructed the Mayor to coordinate with the State Roads Commission and railway officials to share costs, and to inspect rear lots for 500 car parking plus space near the Staley Motor Company. The plan emphasizes widening Brewer's alley and building parking facilities to relieve congestion, with a nominal parking fee and a caretaker.
