Gaithersburg producer eyes low budget film The Immigrant
Kensington's Gabriel Mantilla owner of Gamma Inc envisions a shoestring movie using local talent with minimal Hollywood influence. He promotes Milas Wspanic International Tournament pageant in Gaithersburg to find an actress for Maria and seeks World Wide Films, possibly big studios, to back the project. He stresses showing America's diverse culture and realism through real people in roles while awaiting whether funding and turnout materialize.

A Gentleman and a Scoundrel at Garland Dinner Theatre
A jaunt at Garland Dinner Theatre Columbia features Jack Sharkey's A A Gentleman and a Scoundrel billed as a liberated feminist executive story. Barbara Norris as Jenny Corell aims the plot but the propulsion comes from old feminine wiles not the character’s supposed arc. Robert Karlin’s dual roles as CRRPA worker and Texan foil provide some vigor yet ad libbed asides and lisping Santa portrayal undercut the play’s intent. The production is funny mainly via pratfalls and misdirection, not cohesive theatre, and runs through July 18.
