Farm queen contestants sought in Frederick County
The Frederick County Farm Bureau seeks farm queen contestants aged 16 and older. Contest at Jefferson Community Center on July 29 will crown a queen who earns 100 dollars, with 50 for a runner-up and 25 for others. Applications by July 16 to Mary Grossnickle or Jane Smith. judging at 6 p.m. by Rev. David Simpson and emcee Mary Summers.

Nutrient management course offered in Annapolis
The Maryland Nutrient training course on the Nutrient Management Program will offer a two day session on June 6 and 7 at the Maryland Department of Agriculture in Annapolis. The program covers state nutrient management regulations soil science and fertility recommendations and prepares participants for a certification exam. Admission is free and registration closes by Wednesday, June 30 with exam registrations set for September 15.
