2500 Attend Airport Fly-In At Frederick

About 2 500 people attended the third annual AOPA fly-in at Frederick Municipal Airport drawing 350 pilots from 15 states. A mobile traffic control tower directed planes with four D C Air National Guard members and 13 FAA controllers on duty. Exhibits included a 1944 DC-3 and a WWII P 51 Mustang, with owner Bob Tullius restoring the Mustang to a match of its former look.

Monocacy Aqueduct Restoration eyed at 25 million

The Monocacy Aqueduct spans the Monocacy River at the Potomac junction and faces a restoration estimated at 25 million dollars. Park officials and a regional advisory committee toured the site noting the aging masonry, prior stabilization, and a multi year plan to dismantle and rebuild sections with stronger mortar and original blocks. The project would extend over five years or more and reflect long term preservation of a key canal landmark.
