Farm Visitation Day set for Sunday June 27 in Frederick County
Frederick County hosts Farm Visitation Day on Sunday June 27 with four farms open to the public. Beef at Liamsville on Ritchie farm showcases beef cattle breeding and commercial cattle care led by Virginia Huebner with tours by Tom Smith. Dairy at Glade Haven near Rt 15 features 250 acres with 175 to 200 Holsteins and guides including the Ritchies, Dave and Teresa, plus Harvestore and milk transportation exhibits. Sheep at Red Hock Farm near New Midway displays about 200 sheep with wool processing demos by Mrs Jean Woodward and shepherd tools, plus Lamb and Wool Queen and Princess attendees. Turkey farm Hillside Turkey Farm near Graceham will show about 9,000 turkeys with an 80 foot elevator feeding system and other farm equipment demonstrations. Tour guides include Mr and Mrs Hall and regional representatives. families urge visitors to bring children.
