Chimp Kills at Catoctin Zoo Attack Shocks Thurmont

An 18 year old Thurmont man Robert Portner was mauled by a chimpanzee at the Catoctin Mountain Zoo and the animal was killed. Zoo owner Richard Hahn described the attack as Jackie the 12 year old 160 pound chimp suddenly attacked Portner after recognizing him. Portner once worked at the zoo and was hospitalized in good condition at the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medicine. The incident occurred as Hahn recalled the moments leading up to the attack and the chimp's failure to accept an ice cream treat.

City fails in bid to buy gas station property

Syrian forces push on guerrilla bases in Lebanon
