Missing Woman Is Found Alive Near Frederick Fair Grounds
Elsie M. Hallam, 53, eluded a two week search until early this morning when she was spotted in a restroom at Frederick Fair Grounds by Roland Smith and Samuel Roderick. Sheriff Horace M. Alexander traced her to the area after authorities dragged Cyber Lake and searched nearby. Hallam said she left home on Grove Boulevard because she was upset and did not realize a widespread search had been conducted. She was taken home in good condition with no serious injuries reported.

Auto Damaged by Fire on Route 40 Near Plane No. 4
State Police report about 200 damage to a late model car Sunday night when it caught fire under the hood on eastbound Route 40 near Plane No. 4. Patrick A. Bachtell of Lilly, Pa., said smoke blinded the driver and the car veered off the road. Fire extinguishers used by passing travelers stopped the blaze.

Fire swept the Ocean Layer 300 miles offshore forcing 8 crew and 12 supervisors to abandon ship. The 5326 ton German freighter Flavia rescued them as the World War I era cable ship burned near Newfoundland en route to France. Two men were temporarily feared lost but then saved.
