Mayor elect Lloyd Culler remains non-committal on future appointments as he prepares to take office next Monday. He hints at keeping several candidates in mind for posts such as eight policemen, city engineer, health officer, and various city offices while awaiting oath at the Courthouse and the Board of Aldermen confirmation.
Washington June 14 Admiral Wilson superintendent of the Naval Academy withdrew a letter of commendation to J L Olmsted editor of the year book for a low down act. Olmsted perforated the Lucky Bag sheet to remove Kaplan's photograph and biography. The Navy Department will receive a report detailing the facts.
June 14 probate Judge Voltz of Baldwin County was urged by a crowd of town officials to depart. He departed Monday and remains missing. Authorities say Voltz, aged about 45 and married, is accused of improper relations with a married woman in the community.
London June 9 Central News reports officials say today’s talks between Irish negotiators resulted in agreement on virtually all points. Details forthcoming.

White, city register, re-elected for three years, formerly county schools superintendent. L. E. Mullinix re-elected three years as Alderman, business man with Mullinix and Bentz. George William Shipley, bottling foreman with no prior office. Ezra D. Hoffman, barber, first-time candidate. Charles T. Butcher longtime Frederick City Packing Co. employee and Independent Hose Company committee member. John Renn, long-time resident formerly active in farming before moving here.
Democrats swept the city in the Tuesday municipal election winning Mayor Lloyd Culler City Register John T White and five Aldermen led by George William Shipley Majorities ranged 172 to 1050 marking the first time the full Democratic ticket won in years Shipley led aldermen with 1690 votes Mullinix 1677 Culler defeated Mayor Gilmer Schley by 474 and White beat Harry M Cramer by 1050 Republicans were led by Charles B Groff with 1276 votes Doubt 1140 votes was the lone Republican on the current board and was defeated in precinct No 7 the mayor elects strongest precinct was No 4 or 5
The board of canvassers consisting of George E Schell Charley F Renner and George T Schroeder meets Thursday between 12 and 1 PM at the City Register office to canvass the Tuesday election. They will elect a chairman and secretary, take oaths, and publish abstracts showing votes for Mayor City Register and Aldermen. The City Register will issue certificates to winners and publish a full precinct tally. Marriage License: Richard Eugene Walden 40 divorced and Zelma Brown 21 both colored of Frederick.

The Western District Association of Baptists met Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Brunswick Baptist Church. Rev. W. D. Rees led devotions, Rev. George W. Whiteside gave the welcome, and the session covered church letters, committee reports, and new pastor introductions. Evening services featured Rev. Briggs, Rev. Baylor, Rev. Gardner, Loomis, and Stewart. The Women's Missionary Society led the afternoon.
The Mayor and City Council set next year’s tax rate at 1.70 per centum with an increase of 40 cents from last year. The basis climbs from 21,332,497 to 23,062,376, mainly due to sewerage work. Street funds rise to 45 cents, library gains 500 dollars annually, and fire and police each gain a cent. The Philippine Islands become dry on April 29, 1922, under a new prohibition law.

In Terra Haute Indiana a crowd of about 400 people rode out in autos to stop coal mining between Terra Haute and Brazil ten miles east. They seized two coal trucks at the Hones mine near Staunton and dumped the coal on the road. Also noted were reports of Chinese student library holdings at the University of Chicago.
Western Maryland Republicans plan a Braddock Heights conference on June 28 to discuss the senatorial nomination amid opposition to Senator France. Local figures including Milton G. Urner and Charles McC. Mathias voice dissent, while others support snap reforms and oppose radical policies.
New York stock market advanced modestly in morning trading with oils and rails again the dominant issue. Call money opened at 3 percent as the day closed strong and volume stood around 1,600,000 shares.

Washington June 14 The Shipping Board announced that neither the Volstead Act nor the Eighteenth Amendment applies to American ships outside the three mile limit. Chairman Lasker said liquor service on board will continue, citing legal rights and merchant marine security, contingent on foreign flag ships entering and leaving U S shores. He responded to Adolphus Busch II of Anheuser Busch after Busch raised concerns about onboard service. The matter was sent to Lasker due to President Harding’s unfamiliarity with the issue.
President Harding flew to Baltimore for the unveiling of a statue honoring Francis Scott Key and the Fort McHenry defenders. The bronze monument by Charles H. Niehans rises 43 feet near the fort, with amplifiers and broadcasts extending the event to regional listeners.

It was referred to the committee which will meet tomorrow with the expectation of reporting it as speedily as possible.
