Teen’s song about love of instant messaging sparks teen culture
Nashville thirteen year old Brittney Cleary debuts “LM Me” about online chats and common chat acronyms like BRB and LOL. The song released on the Internet and soon in stores captures youth talk seen in Pew Internet studies showing high teen IM use. Experts compare IM slang to hip hop slang, noting adults often don’t understand it and praising its clever shorthand.
