NHL realignment questioned by board of governors
The NHL board of governors opened summer meetings amid doubts a three-division realignment will pass. Pittsburgh Hartford and Toronto would shift divisions, with Toronto likely moving to Adams to join Buffalo and Montreal, while Pittsburgh aims for Norris and Hartford for Patrick. A two-thirds vote is needed, and one governor questioned if it’s worth reshuffling a league that already drew its schedule. The meeting also approved four rules changes including keeping five skaters plus goalie on ice after coincidental minors, and a stricter spearing penalty.
