Cigar Smoking Risks Examined by Kaiser Physician

Dr Carlos Iribarren of Kaiser Permanente studied 1,546 regular cigar smokers and 16,228 nonsmokers from 1971 to 1905. Most cigar smokers smoked under five daily. He notes cigar risks are lower than cigarettes since cigars are less inhaled. Cigarette smokers face about three times higher coronary heart disease risk, ten times higher lung cancer risk, and 20 to 25 times higher cardiac lung disease risk.

CDC notes stays rose from 17 to 21 days by 1997. 1995 saw 14 million mothers with one day or less, 1997 had 951,000.
