Union Memorial Wins Open Heart Unit Approval in Baltimore
Union Memorial Hospital has won state permission to open a new open heart surgery unit after a two year battle, defeating St. Agnes and Maryland General. The unit could cost about 1 million to start with operations priced around 19 300 each though officials expect a net loss of roughly 344 035 by year three on 45 million in revenue. Dr James T Estes, the planning commission hearing officer, cited Union Memorial s stronger existing cardiac program as decisive.
