Betscher Named Chief Mechanical Officer at B and O

George M. Betscher is appointed chief mechanical officer of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, succeeding Elmer A. Kuhn who retires after 40 years. Betscher, a 1962 era assistant chief, previously led Western Maryland Railway and started at New York Central System after Pratt Institute. He served as Army Air Force captain 1942-46 and is from Dunmore, Pennsylvania, with daughter Sharon. Economists forecast U.S. passenger cars rising about 18 percent to 77.4 million.
