Bumper Crops Are Predicted In June Crop Report
The June crop report from the Agriculture Department forecasts a near record harvest, with total crop production within six percent of last year’s volume. Winter and spring wheat combined are projected at 945 million bushels, a figure below the million-bushel mark for the first time in seven years but still above farmers’ expectations. Corn and soybeans show improved outlook after delayed plantings, with warm weather in recent weeks aiding development. Winter wheat prospects declined slightly, while spring wheat is forecast at about 204 million bushels, helping ensure a stable marketing future for farmers and reducing pressure for a rigid quota.
