Gas odor traced to apartment refrigerator on West Patrick Street
Independent firemen were summoned at about 7 15 p m to a first floor apartment at 68 A West Patrick Street where a faulty refrigerator filled the unit with gas. They wore masks to enter and removed the refrigerator. An elderly woman occupant said she had detected the odor for hours before the firemen arrived and was not welcome.

The fifteenth quadrennial reunion of the Maryland State School for the Deaf drew 345 attendees with delegates from California Illinois Missouri Michigan New York Pennsylvania Virginia District of Columbia and Maryland. Two alumni aged 86 who enrolled when the school occupied the Revolutionary Barracks participated. Frank N. Martin of Chicago and John E. Fowble of Greenmount Carroll County were former students in the early 1870s and joined in the activities. About 150 younger delegates picnicked at Gambrill Park on Saturday and the rest enjoyed games and a program in the gymnasium Sunday closing with religious services.
