Cohousing Conference Highlights Communal Life and Projects
About 100 attendees at Frederick Community College heard speakers explain cohousing as a way to knit neighborhoods into communities. Liberty Village in Libertytown and EcoVillage in Loudoun County sponsor efforts with land secured for a 20-home start this summer. Rob Sandelin compares cohousing to a big summer camp offering shared meals and maintenance, while residents note the balance of community and privacy with costs around 150 000 for a three bedroom home and 50 monthly fees. Pam Silva cites the appeal of community with personal privacy at her Sacramento project.
