The Frederick Carroll counties Roads Board opened bids for a corrugated metal pipe arch bridge at Cover's Corner on the old Buffalo road near the Carroll Frederick line. Poffinberger and Muse submitted the low bid of 4872.02 plus prior pipe cost, with total around 7210. Other bidders were M J Grove Lime and Ridgely Construction. Contract award awaits county commissioner concurrence.

Miss Margaret Ringler of Cumberland will join the University of Maryland 44 Club staff June 11 announced by extension director Dr. James M. Gain. Ringler, principal of Pine Plains Elementary in Little Orleans Allegany County, studied at Western Maryland College University of Wisconsin University of Maryland and Frostburg State Teachers College. She has led Allegany County 4-H and formerly presided over the 4-H Senior Council she organized.

In MUNSAN Korea on June 9 top Communist commanders sent a multi page letter to UN Far East commander Gen Mark Clark via liaison officers at Panmunjom where armistice talks were recessed.
