Lions Club rally to feature Dr. Goldberg in Hagerstown
A regional delegation of about 70 Lions and Lioness clubs from central and western Maryland will host Dr. Morton F. Goldberg of Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute at a booster rally Sunday June 10 at 1 PM at the Hagerstown Elks Club. The event supports the Maryland Lions Vision Research Foundation with a three year $1.5 million commitment from members across Maryland Delaware and the District of Columbia.

The Red Cross bloodmobile collected at Omega Park on Thursday May 24 at Rocal Health and Safety. Of 64 donors, six deferred for medical reasons and three were unsuccessful, yielding 55 units. Twenty four donors were new to the program.

Fifth graders visit Morgan horse farm in Emmitsburg
Fifth grade students from Emmitsburg Elementary and teachers Rebecca Ferguson and Donna Varish toured the Morgan horse farm owned by Principal Nancy Hendricks as part of reading Marguerite Henry’s Justin Morgan Had a Horse. The trip let them compare real horses with those in the book and discuss why the Morgan breed suits a novel. John and Nancy Hendricks showed horse care and versatile uses during the visit.
