Baltimore men drown in Potomac near Brunswick
Two Baltimore men, John Buby, 36, and Charles Gall, 46, died when a small fishing boat capsized in the swollen Potomac River near Brunswick after heavy rain. A third man, Leo Grade, survived, while Gall’s body search continued by Natural Resource Police. The Potomac has run high and deadly since Memorial Day with six river deaths in the region.

Dorothy Dunkhurst Filler McBride, longtime nursing education leader in Maryland, died Saturday June 6 at the Home for the Aged in Frederick. Widow of Edgar H. McBride, she was honored with an honorary Hood College doctorate in 1962 for her service to nursing and Hood College. Born December 7, 188? in Frederick, she earned an AB from Hood in 1917, Johns Hopkins Nursing School 1929, a Masters from Leashers College, Columbia University, and an additional Hood honorary DHS in 1952.
