Sees No Big Price Drop at University Testimony
University of Maryland economist Dr John H Cover told a Public Service Commission hearing on Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone rate increases that prices will not return to prewar levels in the next few years and a 15 percent drop is unlikely. He testified for the company and predicted a moderate downward price readjustment in two to three years with no large wage or material cost reductions for the utility. Robert W Michie, company vice president, said the aim is to regain prewar earnings not to raise service charges to match other goods. Commencement exercises of Girls Latin School will be held at 8 p m on Thursday with Dr Andrew G Truxal addressing graduates at the Maryland Casualty Company auditorium.
