Judge refuses gag order in Cook Rockville case
In Rockville Maryland on Wednesday Judge Michael J. Algeo refused to grant a gag order in the case of Albert W. Cook Jr. accused in a Jan. attack near Rock Creek path. State's Attorney Douglas F. Gansler had publicly discussed the investigation prompting defense motions to restrict statements. Deputy states indicated the public’s right to know and ongoing jury pool concerns. Cook remained in custody without bail as an assistant prosecutor resigned amid investigation into handling of evidence.
