City adopts 63.5 million budget by Frederik aldermen
Frederik 5 aldermen unanimously adopted a 63.5 million budget for fiscal 2002 after a largely quiet budget season. The plan includes a 468 million operating budget with 5.47 million for capital improvements, a 522205 deficit at start, and a 1.384 surplus by May 9. The water and sewer fund, parking fund, golf course fund, and airport fund are also included with minor public input.

Mount Airy Woman Killed In Cycle Crash
A Mount Airy woman died late Thursday near the Md 355 bridge over the Monocacy River after losing control of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle at about 7 46 pm. Police said Dien Paul, 28, was riding northbound when she struck a guardrail and left the road. She held a learner license to operate a motorcycle.
