Peabody Awards honor excellence beyond Emmys and TV
In Athens the Peabody board of 15 independent judges recognizes outstanding work in radio and television across diverse media. Winners this year include CBS News 60 Minutes and Day One, WWL TV, WKRN TV, Homicide Life on the Street, Mystery Prime Suspect, Larry Sanders Show, Mystery Science Theater 3000, and CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. Paul Harvey received lifetime achievement in radio news, while Ed Bradley hosted the Waldorf Astoria ceremony. The awards emphasize merit over hype and lack broadcast theatrics, with a New York luncheon signaling notable career boosts.
