Longtime Monrovia matriarch turns 90 amid church celebration

Agnes McClain, Hyattsville born and longtime Bush Creek Church of the Brethren member, will celebrate her 90th birthday on Tuesday June 11. The Monrovia resident has cared for four children, with the youngest son Donald still dining daily at her home. She and her late husband Edward formerly owned 502 acres on two farms, and the county named Ed McClain Road in his honor. She recalls neighbors helping each other in earlier days and says she remains close to her community. The birthday party is set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the church, with many in attendance expected.
