Old Fashioned Aerial Show to Benefit MCARC Fund

Fourth annual aerial show and family fun day to aid MCARC, featuring aerobatic pilots, antique cars, a Minutemen parachute team, pipe band, rocket and model aircraft displays, and family activities in Montgomery County. Gates open 11 am with events noon to 5 pm at Kelley farm near Darnestown. Tickets 5 dollars adults, 1 dollar children. under six free. Rain date July 2. MCARC supports mentally handicapped individuals through education, recreation, and residential services.

DOT grant funds Brunswick DC rail upgrades and access

Maryland DOT signs a 14.8 million urban mass transit grant to upgrade Brunswick to DC rail service including purchase and rehab of 10 diesel cars 25 passenger coaches locomotives and station work. Project adds Rockville and Silver Spring connections to the high speed Metro rail with signals platforms and track work funded mainly by federal and state sources plus county contributions. Elderly access features include wheelchair areas handrails priority seating and non skid surfaces with new parking and lighting at Dickerson Germantown Gaithersburg stations and added bicycle facilities.

Motorcyclist hurt in Urbana mishap

An 18 year old Frederick County man, Patrick M. Murphy of amasville, was injured Tuesday in a motorcycle mishap near Urbana. He was listed in stable condition in the ICU at Washington County Hospital after his bike veered from Md 80 into a culvert and embankment, then threw him from the vehicle. He was transported by Urbana ambulance to Frederick Memorial Hospital and then to Washington County Hospital for head injuries.

Accident victim identified in Chambersburg case

Deborah Maria Owens 23 of Fairfield Ohio was identified as the woman struck while walking at night on Route 11 near Chambersburg on April 13. She had been listed as Jane Doe at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown and remained unconscious with a mounting hospital bill.
