Eugene Foreman about 53, city dirt loader operator, nosed the machine forward at the Frederick Trading Company site causing a severe forehead wound and arm burns. He was treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital and discharged. Water workers plan a 12 inch fire line for a sprinkler, and the loader nose over incident injured him as it dumped earth to trucks toward Staley Park.

Petersburg Va June 6 The Virginia Fibre Company's No 1 plant was razed and one employee killed in a two hour flash fire that swept the building. Loss put at more than 250000. A charred body identified tentatively as Elbert L Pierce 55 of Petersburg an oiler. Fire Chief J N Farmer said the blaze was caused by friction when a belt broke in the twisting department. The plant makes twine for fibre seat coverings and similar products. The one story brick structure was one of two plants. destruction will idle the other plant, leaving about 300 out of work temporarily.

Dismissal notices to workers cancelled in Washington
About 2,700 federal rent control workers were told they faced dismissal two weeks ago, but the notices were canceled yesterday by Housing Expediter Tighe Woods. He said the agency is virtually broke and can keep staff only until June 30 unless Congress extends the law. Workers may take voluntary payless leaves to stay employed until then.

Bandit Dies In Gun Fight
New York June 6 a running gun battle between police and holdup men in the Greenwich Village night club belt left one bandit dead and two bandits and a bystander wounded. Dozens of patrons ducked into doorways as shots were exchanged. Two bandits were wounded and captured after their getaway car crashed near Washington Square. John Truxal Killed In Highway Crash Near Harrisburg
Harrisburg June 8 reports say Lancaster truck driver John Truxal Jr. 25 nephew of Hood College president Dr Andrew G. Truxal was killed in a highway collision near Harrisburg. Six others sustained minor injuries and hundreds of baby chicks were slaughtered along the road in a two-truck crash. Dr and Mrs Truxal left for the late nephew’s home after being informed.

37 Rescued At Sea From Plane Crash
Survivors from a twin engine plane crash 275 miles northeast of Miami were picked up by the destroyer USS Saufley and described as in good condition. Initial reports indicated 33 to 45 survivors in life rafts, with 65 aboard the craft en route from San Juan to Wilmington. Coast Guard and other vessels assisted.
