Murder for hire trial set for July 6 in Aron case

In Rockville a Montgomery County Circuit Court judge denied a bid to postpone Ruthann Aron’s second attempted murder for hire trial set for July 6. The judge ordered jury selection on July 6 and rejected the defense’s request for more prep time. The defense cited 3,700 pages of transcripts and tapes as reasons to delay. The state urged proceeding as scheduled, noting witnesses have been subpoenaed and vacation plans should be avoided. The case is unusually complex with mental health issues cited by the defense and insanity claims raised in relation to the earlier charges.
