On the Reid's Ford road the Thomas Clark farm trenching and pipe laying for a new natural gas distribution line began. Frederick Gas Company president Raymond Brehaut says gas should reach Frederick before August end as negotiations continue to join the city with Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corporation at Redlands. Engineers Maddox and Hopkins of Silver Spring and contractor J A Laporte lead the project with 4 inch welded steel pipe delivered and progress about half a mile daily. The system uses sectional valving and cathodic protection with automatic governors to keep steady pressure while customer appliances are adapted to the new gas.

Pilot Averts Tragedy By Sidestepping Two Buzzing Planes
