Former Policeman Captures Heifer on Downtown Chase
Former city police officer Charles J Putres pursues a wandering heifer through Frederick streets from East Patrick to Center, cornering it near South and Center. Owner John Fern, a focal stock dealer, aroused and retrieved the animal for return to pasture on East Church Street. Deputy Burras aided the pursuit. In unrelated news, Montgomery County appoints Douglas Riggs as county engineer, effective June 4.
