Six Sentenced to Death in Kuwait Bush Plot
Six men, five Iraqis and one Kuwaiti, were condemned to death by a Kuwaiti panel for planning to assassinate former President George Bush with a car bomb during his April visit. Seven others received prison terms from six months to 12 years, one Kuwaiti was acquitted, and the trial began a year earlier with a three-judge panel amid Iraqi allegations denied by Baghdad.

Kuwait court sentences Iraq-linked group in deadly plot
Judge Salah al Fahd condemned a group of Iraqis accused of planning violence in Kuwait after a trial marked by protests. One man attacked a co-defendant, a 90-year-old was sentenced to death, and a car with 175 pounds of explosives was found on his property days before a visit by Bush. Prosecutors said the device aimed to target Bush and to retaliate against the U S led coalition. Human rights activists question the fairness of the proceedings amid Kuwaiti tensions with Iraq.
