Man admits burning down family home
Roy Lee Sier Jr 30 admits burning down his family home during an aborted drunken suicide attempt. He was convicted in Frederick County Circuit Court of first degree arson for the Nov 21 fire at 11901 Weller Road. He planned to die, ordered his fiancee and children out, poured gasoline on himself, and carried a 100 gallon propane tank into the house before fleeing as it ignited. The blaze caused about 50,000 dollars in damage. Sier will seek counseling for alcohol issues. the plea bargain calls for 60 months with all but 12 suspended.
