Draft plans target fathers as Maryland tabs hit capacity
State Selective Service Director Henry C. Gladwend says all boards will exhaust single and childless married men by August 1 and that drafting of fathers will begin then to sustain armed forces and war production. Stanwood notes nationwide directives expect lifting bans on father inductions, with priority given to order numbers. July ends with only fathers, deferments, unfit registrants remaining in Maryland.
