Hood College president Martha Church to step away after 20 years
Hood College president Martha Church, the first woman to lead Hood in 1975, plans retirement after a 20 year tenure marked by a tenfold endowment rise from 3 million to over 39 million. She led a 47 million fundraising drive while facing faculty tensions over pay cuts, and will pursue travel and Everest climbs while remaining on the National Geographic Society board and joining the Carnegie Foundation as a senior scholar on education reform in China.
