Carpenter bees and powder post beetles threaten wooden homes
Bees and beetles can chew wood, leaving small round or oval holes and sawdust piles. Carpenter bees tunnel into clapboards and eaves, preferring unfinished rough wood, often reusing old galleries. They are large and usually non aggressive, while powder post beetles hollow out wood, causing slow but serious damage.
