Sales rose from 22,000 to 97,000 cubic yards, while the operation processed up to 62,000 tons annually, funded by a county program outlawing yard waste with trash. The process uses leaves as carbon and grass as nitrogen, with windrows heated to kill weed seeds, though odor remains a concern for neighbors.
