Water restrictions hit thousands across Maryland towns
More than 21,000 Maryland residents face lawn and car washing bans amid drought stress. Restrictions span Stevensville to Smithsburg and Eldersburg, driven by stream and spring flow and demand for a 3 million gallon per day treatment plant. Glacier melt linked to fossil fuels in North America
Greenpeace reports the Bering Glacier in Alaska has retreated up to 7.4 miles in a century, thinning by up to 180 yards and shrinking surface area by about 50 square miles. The study ties the loss to global warming from burning fossil fuels and notes similar glacier retreats in Argentina, Peru, Iceland, Norway, and New Zealand.
