Martian Crater Photos Hint at Ancient Meteoritic Bombardment
New Mariner photographs reveal 70 craters on a small Martian region, ranging 3 to 75 miles across, suggesting Earthlike meteorite bombardment over billions of years. Scientists estimate up to 10,000 craters planet wide, with depths up to 13,000 feet, and note a bright triangular pattern of peaks as a striking feature.
