Safe Driver Plan Could Lower Rates
Local Maryland agents push a merit based Safe Driver plan to cut auto insurance costs for accident free motorists. They cite California and Nebraska models where two accident free years earn about a 20 percent rate reduction while drivers with poor records face higher premiums and serious violations may trigger steep increases. Proponents argue the plan creates direct monetary incentive for safer driving and compliance with laws.
