Tax Revision Bill Is Passed
The Senate approved the Eisenhower administration tax revision bill by 61 to 26, sending it to the President as the centerpiece of his 1954 program. The measure, the first major overhaul in 75 years, cuts government revenues by about 1.36 billion dollars in year one and extends the 52 percent corporate tax rate for one year, with key provisions largely intact from Eisenhower’s proposals.
