FAA to strengthen wake turbulence warnings for 757s
The FAA will more aggressively warn pilots of dangers flying close behind Boeing 757s and other large planes after two fatal crashes where small planes entering the wake vortex behind 757s suddenly nosedived. Administrator David Hinson testified to the House committee that safety concerns will be shared more quickly with pilots and air traffic controllers. The crashes occurred when small aircraft landed within three miles of 757s, flipped into nose dives by wake turbulence.
