Seniors To Take Part In Political Campaigns
Maryland plans to expand a pioneer high school program that allowed seniors to miss classes to work on political campaigns. The 1970 trial involved over a thousand seniors for up to three days before election day. The proposal to the State Board would add juniors, remove a 3 day cap, and let students in all classes participate with parental and school approvals and a candidate or organization request. Dr. James A. Sensenbaugh cited educational value and more eligible voters as reasons.
